METALIX Tower Defense

I am confident that most of you played at least one tower defense game online  , because this type of game has it’s own…appeal. I, for one, am a strategy addict  , and i enjoy the concept of destroying enemies  as a result of my resourcefulness. Like in all other tower defense games, this is exactly your goal  in Metalix.

At first view  , this free game seems to bring nothing new to it’s genre , but unlike most games it has very nice graphics and seems fun to play  . As you start the game, you  will observe a few  “surprise” elements, like the ever-changing  route  for the enemy waves, and the power to readjust the position of your towers on the  battlefield .

The first few attacks  are not difficult at all  , so you do not need to adjust the position of your defense  (2 towers  will take out all enemies without any upgrades, but the game is about to change really soon ).

One aspect I did not enjoy  is that the difficulty of the game is not increased after each level  . Like I mentioned  , the first waves are easy, then it  becomes a little more  difficult, but you are still relaxed, and then…a big round of metal rolling enemies  comes your way, and you realize that you need more than twice the number of towers already placed to take it out. And then of course you see  that there is no more cash for at least ONE more tower (because in this game, you will not earn any extra bucks, you will probably always be spending everything at the end of each round ). Then you will restart the game, and you will manage to destroy the  big round metal rolling things, but only after you complete the boring first levels  , that are now far to weak for your well placed and upgraded towers. At this point , you will probably wish that the game had a “fast forward” feature…but there isn’t any.

Because of the ever-changing  trajectory of the enemy waves , there is also some “luck” involved in the game (this is a new feature for free online games). You might get a very twisted trajectory that will be very beneficial for you tower placement, or you might get a very straight one, that will require you to buy more towers in order to cover a larger area.

The interface of the game is very  intuitive, although you will feel like reading the game instructions at times. The layout of the HUD is good compared to other flash games, so you will have no problem in rapidly placing another defense tower  or changing its position    if needed.

The guys from Point Zero Co. developed an excellent  tower defense game, probably one of the best of it’s kind . The nice layout, good graphics, challenging levels, and  multiple  features  make this little game entertaining enough to get you through any boring day at work .
